Shallow Geothermal Energy

Shallow Geothermal Energy

99% of the Earth has a T >1000°CShallow geothermal energy extracts energy up to 400 m deep.Switzerland is the world leader in this field.The subsurface is a heat source and at the same time a heat exchanger.In winter, the subsurface is warmer than the air on the surface, and in summer it is colder.Shallow geothermal energy can be used to heat homes. Heat pumps can be used to heat water to the required temperature.In winter, Shallow Geothermal is used for heating.In summer, excess heat is temporarily stored in the basement for cooling.

Up to 20 m - Water TableWarm water from the water table is extracted, used, cooled and re-injected into the basement.Between 50m to 300mDrilling for heat exchanging geothermal wells. In this model we have a closed water circuit. In Switzerland such probes are used most often.Between 150 m to 300 m depthWells will be drilled in the field to supply homes with larger areas.Energy storage
From 15 m to 30 mAnother possibility is to equip the foundation with inter-heat exchangers.
